Working List of Composers
The index below lists the composers whose music we’ve currently identified as source material for the music theory instructional examples that make up the ÆPEX Anthology. The composers are arranged chronologically by their birth year and are presented with links to introductory biographical information and, when applicable, links to access PDFs of their scores on the free databases IMSLP and CPDL.
PLEASE NOTE: this is a working list and is subject to change. We have published it here with the hope that it may serve interested individuals as a supplement to their own research, and it is not meant to represent a complete historical record. Scores for many of these composers’ works are also available in physical and digital library collections as well as for purchase from publishers. We recommend consulting additional resources, such as RISM and WorldCat, to gain a more comprehensive picture of the availability of these composers’ sheet music and recordings.
